Creationists, upset that Neil DeGrasse Tyson’s “Cosmos” series talks about facts, have demanded “equal time” to argue for their mythology.
In return, I think they should give scientists equal time on the 400 Club and other religious shows.
It only makes sense, after all. I further demand that all science professors get equal time during your church service to refute whatever the preacher is saying about creationism. Teach the controversy!
For that matter, let’s not discriminate when it comes to creationism. We must also teach the Hindu version of creationism, which states that we “devolved” from pure consciousness. And the Cherokee creation story, which holds that the earth was created by a water beetle expanding mud to create the flat earth. Or the Egyptian story, wherein the god Ra emerges from a cosmic egg rising out of the water. Or the central African story of Mbombo, who came to feel an intense pain in his stomach, which led to him vomiting up the sun, the moon, and stars.
What’s that? Most of those are myths? They used to be religions but it turns out that no one believes those things any more? How about that.
Next in line to demand equal time are astrologers, alchemists, and the flat earthers, who demand that their vision of the world be taught alongside actual, real things.
Pfft. When their topics bring in the kind of ratings “Shark Week” and “Cosmos” bring, They can have equal time. While their movies suck at the box office they will have to live with just having TBN, the God network, the Spanish religious channel, 3am to 6am on the WB every day and door to door coloring books sales.

Well Hey, I’d love to see an equal number of Antenna/Free on Air/broadcast TV Channels that are devoted to all things Science just like the number that currently is devoted *only* to church & religious programming.
I mean good gravy, take a look around here in the Twin Cities – they number easily over a dozen channels alone. (And on cable TV, there are even more – They practically live up to the description of biblical locust!)
Now, If they really want equal representation – they would have to *CUT BACK* to a mere smattering of channels showing their programming occasionally, in order to better match the amount of time that science (only) programming airs around here locally. Heck, there were even several advertisements for the new movie about Noah’s ark during the Cosmo’s series already – but I’ve not seen similar ad’s for science programs on their religious network channels.
They say they need more “equal time”? They seem to be getting plenty of time from just that casual sampling of Broadcast TV alone.
