Other countries have been able to provide health care for all its citizens, but we can’t. Other countries have been able to budget for free higher education, but we can’t. Other countries have greatly reduced their prison population while cutting crime by providing counseling and rehabilitation, but we can’t. Other countries have reduced gun violence to practically nothing, but we can’t.
We’re exceptional in this way:
Every other country can do these things except us.

Some years back in a group discussions at the dinner table concerning “American Exceptionalism”, one of my conservative friends commented “That’s because we have such excellent idiots.”, and without missing a beat a more progressive friends added, “Ah, now that we’ve brought up your party, shall we discuss some solutions?”.
Most of the table quickly burst out laughing, which obviously left my conservative friend *really* angry, LOL!
