I teach an adult education course on the history of the Supreme Court. I’m a historian, not a lawyer. You can imagine the trouble I have explaining why the Court decides as it does.

“It’s all politics” is something people don’t like to hear. They have this idealized notion that the law is above politics. It isn’t.

  For that matter, they think pandemics are above politics, at least when the Orange Buchanan is involved.
