Why some Democrats want Biden to drop out

We all agree that Trump should be the one withdrawing from the race, but we also know the GOP will never ask him to do that.

I don’t quite understand how so many of my fellow Americans can support such a terrible man like Trump, but the fact is that they do, and we have to do everything we can to stop him.

We have the possibility of losing to this lying felon simply because people think Biden isn’t up physically and mentally to being President. And that has Democrats running scared. (And it has Republicans running a bit scared, too, because they want Biden to stay in the race. They don’t want him replaced.)

The problem with politics is that the skills needed for campaigning are not the same as the skills needed for governing. Biden may not be doing great in a debate, but that is not something that ever happens when you’re President, surrounded by advisors, and having time to make the right decisions — and I think Biden has done a find job as President. I am not questioning his ability to be President.

But we have to win and these are the cards we have been given. Polls are showing Biden losing in key states, and while polls at this stage are still kind of meaningless, they shouldn’t be ignored completely.

So I certainly understand how many Democrats are asking him to step aside. Our democracy will suffer greatly if Trump is allowed to get back into the White House and be a “dictator on day one.”

(Mind you, almost every registered Democrat will vote for a boiled potato over Trump — it’s the independents we can’t lose)

American Exceptionalism (for real)

American Exceptionalism

Other countries have been able to provide health care for all its citizens, but we can’t. Other countries have been able to budget for free higher education, but we can’t. Other countries have greatly reduced their prison population while cutting crime by providing counseling and rehabilitation, but we can’t. Other countries have reduced gun violence to practically nothing, but we can’t.

We’re exceptional in this way:

Every other country can do these things except us.

Biden seems older…

The danger that is Project 2025

When Trump ran for re-election, the GOP had no platform for the first time in its history. They stood for nothing except supporting their cult leader.

This time, they have a plan, which they call “Project 2025.” Sounds innocent enough, but these are the things the Republicans will try to do if they get elected:

  • Make abortion illegal nationwide
  • Prohibit the sale of abortion drugs (“morning after” pill)
  • Ban contraceptions
  • Make pornography illegal
  • Allow the President to fire minor bureaucrats who aren’t “loyal” to him (This means experts in their fields who have non-political jobs who run the services we need can be fired if they aren’t Trump Republicans)
  • Eliminate the Department of Education
  • Slash corporate taxes and taxes on the very wealthy
  • Ban certain words from government documents, including “sexual orientation”, “diversity, equity, and inclusion”, “gender equality”, “abortion” and “reproductive rights”.
  • The military would be turned into a political group and sent to quell protests
  • “Traditional families” would be promoted over gay relationships, and gay marriage would cease to exist
  • Ban transgender people from the military and limit protections for LGBTQ members
  • Stop programs meant to curb global warming
  • Cancel government programs requiring diversity and inclusion
  • Dismantle the FBI and Homeland Security
  • Make it legal to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation
  • Ban medicare and other federal health plans from covering abortions
  • Put the Christian religion in the forefront of policy-making, while funding Christian schools and programs
  • Ignore Congress and the Courts and allow the President to have practically unlimited power

There’s more, seriously, but, you know, if you think the Handmaid’s Tale would be a great way to run a country, and if you like the idea of having a dictator who can fire anyone who is not loyal to him, feel free to vote Republican in November. Or, instead, you could move to Iran. I understand they have a similar government there.

Kari Lake campaigns for racists

Here’s a picture of Kari Lane campaigning in front of a Confederate flag. She’s running for Senate in Arizona. You know, Arizona. That state that was part of the Confederacy. Arizona. That became a state in 1912.

I wish all the racists out there would just admit that the flag is a symbol of racism and hatred and not, as they always claim, a symbol of southern pride.

I grew up in the south in the 60s and none of my friends flew that flag. Even then, we knew what it meant.

The debate

Trump v. Hunter

Hunter Biden is on trial as I write this, accused of buying a gun illegally (while he had a drug problem).

Trump fans who screamed about how Trump’s guilty finding was only a political stunt and that the system is unfair are thrilled that Hunter is being prosecuted which shows the system is fair.

Hypocrisy was never a problem with them.

Most of the liberals I know agree that Hunter should be treated the same as anyone else under the law, like Trump was.

These conservatives, by the way, are the same people who think there should be no gun restrictions whatsoever but are thrilled that Hunter is being prosecuted for a gun control law. (You know perfectly well if one of their own had these charges, they’d be screaming about an injustice.)

Only room for one Messiah here!
