Bill Maher did a “New Rule” this week that needs to be seen, in which he counters the “Reagan would never be accepted in the current Republican party” myth.
I remember Reagan, and except for a few minor issues, he would fit right in with the current Republican party. He’s their patron saint for a reason, you know.
Anyway, rather than just repeat the point Maher said, I urge you to watch. It’s funny, too.
And yeah, I know that in the headline, I’m using the term “teabagger”, which they hate. Ask me if I care.

Do I get to use the phrase “Democrat Party”? It’s more accurate than “Democratic Party” anyway, as the party is full of democrats, but is not itself democratic.

Ridiculous. Reagan raised taxes and granted amnesty to illegal aliens. Like Barry Goldwater, today’s teabagged Republican Party would see him as a useless liberal.
That’s all it would take. We have Republicans here who no longer believe Bob McDonnell is a conservative because he raised taxes to do something about transportation in the state for the first time in 30 years. That’s all it takes. Because t he Tea Party types have the political sophistication of 8 year old.

He raised taxes on some but reduced them tremendously on the rich, and in the balance there was more reduction than increase. But yeah, you’re right, that wouldn’t matter to today’s Tea Party.
